Painting number OIL1113, titled "Early Morning Frio River", dated March 11, 2011, 16" x 20" original oil painting on linen canvas. The scene is of the Frio River a few miles north of Concan, Texas. There is a county road that starts near Neal's Lodges in Concan and follows the river, with its crystal clear cold water, for ten miles or so around to Highway 83 near Garner State Park. When I was growing up, there wasn't many people there, now it is a very popular recreation area. I remember my dad complaining in the 1950's that those ranchers up there wanted $200 per acre for their land.
