This scene is half way up the Lost Mine Trail at the "saddle" between Casa Grande Mountain in the distance and Lost Mine Peak on up the trail. From this "saddle", western slang for the ridge between two mountains where you can see both sides, off to the left is the vista of Pine Canyon in the foreground and mountain ranges for thirty miles or so on down across the Rio Grande River into Old Mexico. Under the watercolor section for landscapes, I have a watercolor painting of that scene titled "A Big Bend Black Bear". Also, there is an interesting story under The Tales section about why there is a black bear in the painting.
