Well, the “Chupacabra???” picture and story really got a lot of attention. I got so many email messages that I can’t answer all of them, but everyone wanted to know what it is. So I decided to have a follow up mail-out message.
About half the people that responded said it was definitely the mythical Chupacabra and that I should send the picture to the newspapers. The responses from the other half was all over the place, but everybody was interested and wanted to know what it is. Three people forwarded the image to their family veterinary doctor, All three doctors wrote that it was either a dog or coyote with a severe case of mange. I agree with the veterinary doctors.
By far, the best response was from a lady that lives in Austin, Texas. She said that it was a great picture of her cousin, Ralph.
This is a heartbreaking story without the possibility of a happy ending. As human beings with homes, clothing, food, medical care, families, friends, and such, we all want to help this unfortunate starving creature that has nothing and in great pain, but there is just no practical way to help it. So many said that “they” should do something, but there is no “they”. I have not seen it for the last week, so maybe nature has provided for all of us the end to the story. |
