Bolivar Roads is the nautical name for the ship channel between Galveston and Bolivar islands. it is the beginning of the Houston Ship Channel. A lot of ships are anchored along the channel and out in the Gulf awaiting their turn to go up the channel to one of the many ports between here and the Port of Houston, Texas.
